Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you cover?

My radius is roughly 8 miles surrounding Saltby/Sproxton, Leicestershire.

How do I book?

Simply get in touch using the contact form, email or WhatsApp. Once we've discussed your requirements, I'll arrange a meet and greet and guide you through the registration process.

Do you offer a free meet and greet?

Yes. I offer a complimentary meet and greet before any regular services begin. This gives us an opportunity to discuss your requirements, complete any necessary paperwork and ensure that I am a good fit for your pet and household.

Do you walk dogs off lead?

Only with the owner's consent and where I consider it safe and appropriate to do so. Where owners would like their dog to be considered for off-lead exercise, appropriate responsiveness is expected. Off-lead walking is always subject to my assessment and discretion, regardless of owner preference.

Will my dog be walked with other dogs?

No. Rain & Winds does not offer mixed group walks with unfamiliar dogs. Walks are provided on a one-to-one or household basis unless otherwise agreed. If I feel I know the dogs well and it is appropriate, I may pair or group dogs following discussion with all owners.

What happens in bad weather?

Animal welfare always comes first. During periods of extreme weather, services may be amended, shortened, rescheduled or substituted in accordance with my Adverse Weather Policy.

That said, Rain & Winds is very much accustomed to the realities of the British weather, and most wet, windy, cold or muddy days won't stop your dog from getting out and enjoying their walk. Decisions to alter services are only made where conditions are considered unsafe or unsuitable for the welfare of the dog, the service provider

Will my dog get dirty?

Possibly!

Dogs will be dogs, and part of the joy of walking in the countryside is the opportunity to explore, sniff, paddle and occasionally find the muddiest patch available. Whilst I believe dogs should be allowed to enjoy being outdoors, it is also a personal aim of mine to return them home as clean and comfortable as possible.

As part of the individual approach I take with each dog, I carry towels and a portable wash system for muddy paws, legs and undercarriages where appropriate. However, every dog is different, and any cleaning will always be carried out with consideration for the dog's welfare, comfort and tolerance.

Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to minimise mud and mess, owners should expect that dogs may occasionally return home a little wetter, muddier or more windswept than they left.

Does my dog need to have specific behaviour or training?

I am happy to consider most dogs and welcome dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes. Before services begin, I offer a complimentary meet and greet to discuss your dog's needs, temperament, behaviour and exercise requirements.

To ensure walks remain safe and enjoyable, dogs should be comfortable being handled by a third party and have reasonable lead manners. Whilst I understand that many dogs may have minor quirks, sensitivities or training needs, Rain & Winds is not currently able to accommodate dogs displaying strong reactivity towards people, dogs, vehicles or other environmental triggers.

Can you care for my dog during the day?

No. Rain & Winds does not currently offer home boarding, day care or care from my own property.

All services are provided within your dog's usual environment or through walks and visits arranged from your home. This allows dogs to maintain familiar routines and surroundings whilst benefiting from a consistent, personalised service.

You don't post a lot on social media?

Rain & Winds is intentionally a small, local business built around personal recommendations and genuine relationships rather than a large social media presence.

Rain & Winds does maintain an Instagram and Facebook profile and occasionally advertises locally through community Facebook groups. However, the focus has always been on providing a reliable, personal service rather than creating content.

As both a private person and someone who values client confidentiality, I take a considered approach to sharing photographs and information online. Many of my clients appreciate the more discreet approach, knowing that their pets, homes and routines are treated with the same respect and privacy that I would expect for my own.

Are you insured?

Yes. Rain & Winds is fully insured, including Public Liability, Care, Custody & Control, Keyholder Insurance, Professional Indemnity and Pet Transportation cover.

Do you transport dogs in your vehicle?

Do you transport dogs in your vehicle?

Yes. Where appropriate, dogs may be transported to walking locations that best suit their age, fitness, interests and individual needs.

I believe the focus should be on the quality of the walk itself, so I aim to keep travel time to a minimum wherever possible. This helps ensure that dogs spend their time enjoying the countryside, exploring and exercising, rather than sitting in a vehicle.

All dogs are transported using appropriate safety restraints and equipment, and journeys are planned with their comfort and welfare in mind.

Can you care for cats, poultry and small animals?

Yes. In addition to dog walking, I offer care visits for cats, poultry and small animals within their own home environment.

Will I receive updates during visits?

If requested, I am happy to provide updates and photographs during services. The level of communication can be discussed during your meet and greet.

Can you administer medication?

At present, Rain & Winds does not routinely administer medication. Please discuss any specific requirements before booking.
